Viking Cue Mfg., Inc. owner Gordon Hart began making two-piece pool cues in the basement of the pool room he owned in Stoughton, Wisconsin in 1965. By the late 1960s, Gordon spent more time making cues and less time running the room. He then moved the cue business to its present location in Madison, Wisconsin. With his life-long friend Fred Schulze, he expanded production capabilities and began selling cues throughout the United States. For years Gordon and his wife Nancy traveled to the infamous Hustler Tournaments in Johnston City, Illinois, to exhibit and sell Viking cues. Viking cues were popular with many of the top players of the time as there were very few choices for a quality cue.
