Robson Magnetic Chalk Holder

Magnetic Chalk Holder by Robson

Cost 120 php (about 2.20 USD ) at most Sport Shops

Description

The Robson Magnetic chalk holder is constructed from plastics, steel and magnets. It is use by slipping the plastic clip on your belt. This houses the magnet. The chalk is then placed in a plastic container with a piece of metal on the bottom. It also comes with a cover to prevent the chalk from making a mess in your cue case.

Advantages

I bought this item at the sport shop because I noticed that I have had several occasions where I have left my chalk at the pool hall. Chalks are quite inexpensive, about 25 PHP ( 0.50 USD) each here in Manila. But its a pain in the A$$ to go to a pool hall and then find out that you do not have your own chalk. (I know the pool hall has their own chalk, but I use the Tan colored ones since they dont make my hands and shaft blue). Heres an added bonus to this inexpensive item.... it makes you play better... wait.....lets rephrase that .. It makes ME play better...thats right, I play better with the magnetic chalk holder.... okay so your asking yourself .."What the heck is this guy smokin? , how can a 2 USD magnetic chalk holder makes this guy play better".... if this was true everyone would be using it...... okay let me explain .. it does not really make me play better... BUT it makes me CONCENTRATE better .....Now he's really loosing it !!!.. let me explain ....... it makes me concentrate better on the game coz I dont have to look for the darn chalk everytime I shoot...its that simple.....It may not be much to some players but when I am playing and when I am in the ZONE and then I have to look for my chalk before you shoot...its simply distracting. sometimes the chalks is on the other end of the table, or the other player has it, and sometimes it gets kicked under the table......and when these things happen I loose my concentration and momentum...thus missing the shot.....

Construction

Remember the Robson Magnetic Chalk holder? well its poorly constructed, the clip is too soft, so everytime you get the chalk there is a tendency for the clip to get loose, to prevent this you have to train yourself to get the chalk by sliding the chalk downwards and not upwards... I have also heard that in due time the metal parts begins to rust. The edges of the container where the chalk is place is too sharp, it wont cut your hand but its quite uncomfortable getting the chalk with those edges,.... you can smoothen the edges with sandpaper if you like

Recommendation

Hmm.... there are better magnetic chalk holders out there, although most of them are not available here in Manila, But for the price of 4 pcs of chalk, its hard to complain, if it lasts a month then I would be happy with it, I just have to buy the chalk holder everytime I buy my chalks...I would consider the item as supplies...just like chalks and tips....other than that I am very much happy with the way it helps my game.......

have fun...

and don't leave your chalk...

My Comment: I complete agree. I have the same chalk holder. I feel it helps me play better as well. It garuantees me that i always chalk up. Since it is right there at my side, i never have to look for it on the table.. its habbit now to reach to my side chalk up and put it back without even looking at it... allowing me to concentrate on the shot at all times. Its funny how littls things like this mess with your mind.
