Olhausen Billiards( View reviewed item ) Most people want the best value for their dollar. When purchasing a table they will visit several retailers before they make a decision, which I recommend. The majority will agree that Olhausen is the best value. Others will ask these two questions and then come to an agreement : 7/8"slate your competition has 1" slate? First thing to consider when purchasing a slate pool table is the quality of the slate. Wouldnt you agree? You're not purchasing a wood or composite playing surface. You want slate and you deserve the best. Thats why Olhausen will provide you with the highest quality Italian slate on all models. Most manufacturer's are now resorting to places like South America and China for their slate because of cost and availability. To sum it up and keep it short, most prefer quality over quantity. Next question, I was looking at your competitors table and it was a little thicker in the cabinet? Again it is all about the quality. Some manufacturer's will use Medium Density Fibre board (MDF), which is like compressed card board. Then they put a wood veneer or laminate over it, this will give the appearance of solid wood. It may be nice now but I personaly havent seen any 100 year tables made from (MDF).Olhausen solid wood tables are made from only the best American harvested lumber that will last for generations. Olhausen tables are typically 6/4 or roughly 1.5" in thickness. This this provides ultimate strength and will be less prone to crack given climatic conditions. Everyone wants the best, thats why Olhausen will give you the best They take old world craftsmenship and mix it with state of the art technology. Best in billiards? ask a proud Olhausen owner and they will agree its not just slogan, it's the honest truth. These are just a few brief descriptions given space availability. Most Olhausen dealers are equiped with a table for you to play on before you buy. Do some research and bang a couple balls around on an Olhausen and you be the judge.
