McDermott Cue Mfg.

( View reviewed item )

I"ve had occassion to own many cues over the years and brought in a cue for repair. At that time Jim still had the company, and as he was looking at it, he told me who the man was that built it and more about it than is available in any book.
The repair took awhile running into tournement time. He suggested that I try one of his. This was in the mid 70s, and I've used his cues ever since. My break/jump cue doesn't get a lot of use, but my regular cue does. Jim always said that if you can't break with your cue, what good is it. He claimed that a two piece should hit like a one piece cue and if the ferrule is solid the tip has a backing to take the abuse of the break. He was right! After he sold the company, his quality standards were maintained and enhanced. They have a product line that can offer something for about anyone, underwritten with top quality.

My Comment: I bought my first "good" cue in May 2004. I loved it. In November I left my cue in the garage door track. When the garage door went down it came down right on the cue. My McDermott cue was so strong it did not snap it surprizingly. It did however warp the shaft. I sent it in to McDermott under their new shaft warrentee. They replaced the shaft with a new one and I had it back to me within 2 weeks and they were in constant contact with me.
